Today is the 10th day of my recovery.
Last Friday, I turned off my ESP at 200 km/h on the German autobahn and turned my steering wheel as hard and fast as I could to the right. My car rolled over and landed upside down in the ditch. No one saw the accident, so I had to free myself from the car and crawl onto the side of the road, where I lay for two hours until the emergency services arrived. My first and second lumbar vertebrae were shattered and unstable, but luckily I wasn't paralyzed. On Saturday, I had surgery to insert two plates and seven screws to stabilize the fracture.
I am now in a closed psychiatric ward, and today is the first day I am feeling better. The last few days have been very painful because the effect of the methadone was shortened by metamizole, and I was in withdrawal for 12 hours a day and in extreme pain.
Apparently, I'm just not allowed to die.
