Well I'm not going to rule out that extreme scenario but I highly suspect it'd be more of the same. A boring dystopia with more toys, more people, and more problems. With growing limited resources the burgeoning population will have to do without more and settling for less as hope for change is diminished to near zero. All the while the rich are secluded in their techno-castles hoarding all the wealth and watch steadily as the population kill themselves and the remaining land not ravaged by climate change becomes prime real estate the rich use to further reinstate a feudalistic techno-slave society. It reminds me of this Michael Ellner quote:
"Just look at us. Everything is backwards, everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds, scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality and governments destroy freedom."
Once you've become ridiculously rich money is worthless to you, and your new currency is people. Controlling people, using people, abusing people. That is the next level of wealth as it's always been but more.
