How do you think the world is gonna look in 50 years? I think it's gonna be way worse than it is now, I predict a civilization collapse, the global warming doesn't look good, and there are more and more natural disasters and most humans don't give a shit.TBH, the closer the end of humanity, the better I feel.I only hope we don't infest other planets and also destroy those.

Well I'm not going to rule out that extreme scenario but I highly suspect it'd be more of the same. A boring dystopia with more toys, more people, and more problems. With growing limited resources the burgeoning population will have to do without more and settling for less as hope for change is diminished to near zero. All the while the rich are secluded in their techno-castles hoarding all the wealth and watch steadily as the population kill themselves and the remaining land not ravaged by climate change becomes prime real estate the rich use to further reinstate a feudalistic techno-slave society. It reminds me of this Michael Ellner quote:

"Just look at us. Everything is backwards, everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds, scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality and governments destroy freedom."

Once you've become ridiculously rich money is worthless to you, and your new currency is people. Controlling people, using people, abusing people. That is the next level of wealth as it's always been but more.

We've all heard/read Steven Hawkin's warning that humanity's survival likely depends on us getting off earth in the next century. And there are reports companies are already selling parcels of other planets. We haven't even finished ruining earth yet but we already presume to "own" other worlds. If we go someplace else, it's likely, as you've suggested, we'll just do there what's in our nature to do here. A tragedy for extra-planetary ecosystems, whether native or bioengineered.

I've been feverishly searching for a link to an article I read a couple months ago that echoes your thoughts, but to no avail. I'll find it tomorrow. Great post btw.

To be honest I think it will be pretty much the same but maybe crazier weather and cool technology.

I will retreat to the woods

More of the Earth will be industrialized. Every ideal and goal will be solely focused on money. There may be some cool technology such as robots and full fledged VR worlds.

Companies and corporations will pretty much control everything including your personal life. Heck in some cases they already do.

Where you live has to be registered by the government. No more living it out on the mountains.

Global warming and pollution will get worse. Terrorism, crime and maybe even an rebellion will surface. All which will eventually fail because of the military and law enforcement's new toys.

And I'll be too dead to be apart of it hopefully.

Fifty years from now the world will look like Cormac Mccarthy 's The Road. Nuclear winter with cannibalism amongst the few survivors. Fossil fuel, water and soil wars are coming.

Population will shrink definitely, one way or another. Of that I am sure..
Anything else is too hard to speculate on such long scale.

Lots of very rich people are building doomsteads, particularly in NZ apparently. A problem with that would be controlling the guards once money becomes irrelevant. The whole Transition Towns movement or suggestions to plant a garden and get out of debt are just pissng in the wind IMO. I feel really sorry for the young people of today because things are about to get a lot worse even in the rich world. Looks like we're leading the descent here in the UK. Crowded, arrogant, debt-laden little country that we are. Time to ctb soon...

There will definitely be an economic collapse because there's so much debt. If we didn't have central governments that meddle in the natural order there would be no coming economic disaster. Climate change/global warming is a scam that's been running for many decades. I'm assuming it's directed at the more intelligent because less intelligent people do not care if they bring kids into unsuitable environments or wether they will cause pollution lol! They want to discourage smarter more conscientious people from breeding because high iq people are harder to rule over.

I'm fascinated by CRISPR as well. We're really on the lunatic fringe of being able to play god at an unimagined level.

It'll be fucked up royally, especially in terms of culture. Anti-rationalist, destructive people are breeding like viruses, rational people don't have enough spirit in them. Wouldn't want to be around to see that escalate even more.

Overall more of the same until the biosphere collapses or nuclear winter.

QoL for the average person will continue to decline. The relatively peaceful age of the US hegemony will have ended, and intense conflicts akin to the World Wars of the 20th century will re-emerge. Water and land will become scarcer and the new financial system may slightly deviate from capitalism.
