For example- people will say they have a favourite actor who played James Bond, Batman, Superman etc. Is your preference so strong that you won't fully enjoy a version with another actor playing the part?

I tend to value each film etc. by itself. I can usually find something to like in any actor who plays the role. Although, now and again- I miss my preference. In the newer Lion King film, I really missed Jeremy Irons voicing 'Scar'.

I prefer having that mindset though. It means I get to enjoy multiple versions on a theme. Some casting choices do feel strange though. Especially when you have an idea of how a character should look.

with theatre i do tend to have a favorite actor i've seen in a role, though because i watch a lot of local theatre its often not anyone famous who is my favorite to a role. its not so much of a prefereance that i dont enjoy other versions though, i really love seeing plays i've already seen done again with a different cast, if one run of a play has an A and B cast (like alternating nights all or just some roles are played by someone else) then i like to go see it again so i can see the different actors.

I have favorites, but I always try to go into a new movie or show with an open mind. Most of the time, it is usually bad writing that turns me off of a character rather than them being played by a different actor.

Although Rob Paulson was the original voice of Donatello in the 90s TMNT cartoon, and then they brought him back as Raphael in the 2000s version, and I was like, what the fuck, WHYYYYYYYYYYY????????

I liked Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil and many other action-horror movies. Also Ali Larter in RE: Afterlife and Final Destination was good.

I tend to not like remakes/reboots/sequels because it feels like my childhood is being written over. In that sense, while I don't have a deeply strong attachment to any of these characters/franchises, there will only ever be one Spider-Man and one Harry Potter for me.

ive tried to watch other versions of wuthering heights but nothing compares to the 1939 version. laurence olivier and merle oberon were perfect. the remake that was recently released makes me want to puke. i dont plan to watch it. everything is so sexualized and ruined today.
