For me, I reinterpret the song: 'One Day I'll Fly Away' to read:

'One day I'll fly away
Leave (my life) to yesterday
What more can (my life) do for me?
When will (life) be through with me?'

Any song's you've reappropriated for suicide?

"Ich bin dein Schatten
Du verbrennst mich nicht
...
Wach auf, ich suche dich
Brich weit, mein Herz, ich löse dich
Hoch aus, du Licht
Entflamme mich
Zur dir, ich weiss, ich finde dich" - Lacrimosa : Durch Nacht und Flut

"I am your shadow
You do not burn me
...
Wake up, I search for you
Break open, wide, my heart, I release you
Rise up, you light
Inflame me
Toward you, I know, I will find you"

I used to listen to this song and feel like something was speaking to me, but it was only when I accepted my own shadow and revisited this song that it made complete sense to me. In the end, I liked this song because it was the medium through which my abstract "self" dialogued with my concrete "self" — and at the time, I could only think about killing myself, which makes everything so ironic today.

I definitely do that with Scorpions' Holiday, one of my favorite songs.

when i was younger i loosely interpreted Everlong by Foo Fighters as being about self-harm; i (mis)understood the "if anything could ever be this real forever" lyric as being about the sheer viscerality of the act... the red colour imagery in the opening verse definitely helps too

not lyrics, but theres a small old emo ep i really like that i got into around a really bad period for suicidal ideation. i find all the instruments and even the vocals sound quite strained, as if they're constantly trying to be quiet and reserved but fighting the urge to be loud and intense, i found it mirrored the way i was feeling around then really well, when i was trying my hardest to function and draw no attention to myself or my struggles while constantly having it "leak" and really battling the urge to just shut down and it felt like i could explode, i find it hard to hear it in any other context

I do this with any fixation I have; suicide, self-harm, drugs, etc. I can warp just about any song into being about one of those topics. lol
