I'm currently in my second year at university in the UK. I'm a few years behind technically because I kept dropping out of school during lockdown here. Last year I made an attempt in my uni room but nothing happened. Does anyone have any idea of what would happen if I were to in my uni room? I know it's a weird and possibly stupid question. For extra information my room does have a lock on the door which I can lock from the inside. I am on the 6th floor. I have 4 other flatmates but we don't see each other. It is also a private room with an ensuite. Unsure of method at the moment but im desperate for a way out. I can't do this any longer.

i'm not sure, but personally i wouldnt want to be found, i think, seems itd be safer to be somewhere else but that is just my feeling, you know your situation best, if you feel uncomfortable or worried, take some time and trust your intuitive feelings on what to do.

Are you in halls managed by your university? If they're privately ran, would they contact your uni if something happened? I did attempt in my room last year, I got caught and I was forced into telling my parents what happened and I ended up being completely banned from all university property until they were certain I wouldn't do it again. Even if you don't see your flatmates, depending on the method, if they hear something (especially with how thin some accom walls are) they might call for help. If you aren't already aware of it, I would recommend looking into the Support to Study/Fitness to Study policy (different places have different names) for your uni and see if that's a risk you're willing to take. Overall, I would say your best bet would be to see if it's possible to hold out until you're in a different location, or take precautions so that the university will not find out.
