I read charcoal stops burning after an hour. Im so confused as you light it in chimney starter for 15 mins then cool for 20 mins but sometimes longer like an hour in total. Does the coal still produce co when its no longer burning? Im so confused.

Does the coal still produce co when its no longer burning?
Yes. That's why people die after taking disposable bbqs into their tents thinking they are safe since they are no longer on fire.
