I am a regular SH-er, and have negligible SI at this point of my life. I have chosen to end it all by nicking (or slitting) my cartoid by making a forceful and abrupt horizontal slash in the cartoid triangle (under the earbone).

I am well aware that the consensus here leans towards cutting being a non-method. I firmly disagree with this for the specific case of the cartoid, especially in the cartoid triangle (where it's just under 2cm beneath the surface for a lean adult like me). I have read fairly well about the neck anatomy.

Back to the question, what tool should I buy online to use? I don't think a regular knife would be sharp enough for a swift execution (rather than painfully stabbing myself several times). So I was thinking of either a double-edgwd open razor (the concern being the rectangular cavity in the middle), or a box-cutter (the concern being its flexible nature).

I would highly appreciate anyone linking me resources regarding this, including:

(i) What tools to use
(ii) The optimal orientation to cut
(iii) The way of incision; a fast horizontal slice, or a slow but forceful deep cut?
(iv) How to fight SI/reflexes (use a cloth to cover the mouth? or restrain myself completely?)
(v) How to maximize lethality (stay upright on the seat? or lay down? or even turn on the shower to maximize blood loss?)

It's not my first post here regarding the same, and I would highly appreciate refraining from telling me how it's a bad idea and a "non-method". I'm in very dire circumstances, which I believe wouldn't be very hard to comprehend. Thanks in advance.

Would you please mind elaborating or at least linking a reliable source to support these otherwise empty claims? I'm tired of unwantadly soliciting such responses one after the other after each post. I just want closure regarding the matter...

the amount of things that can go wrong is exorbitant. are you a surgeon? you really think you can do that with the surgical precision necessary? thats foolish

I would highly advise against this method but if you're intent on going through with it this is what I've heard through the grapevine.

1. Something as sharp as possible, surgical grade scalpel would be best but a regular sharp razor blade could do the trick. Anything duller just disregard.
2. I'm not sure the optimal orientation to cut the carotid but you want to avoid paralyzing yourself or damaging nerves (if possible) before you're able to sever the artery so do your own research on that sorry I couldn't be more helpful with this one.
3. From my experience shing and watching videos of people cutting deep you want to do fast, forceful slashes. Press down with strong pressure and then make a quick swipe. You will likely need several cuts to reach the artery. Once you reach the artery good luck, I've heard they are hard to cut through with conventional blades.
4. You probably cannot do this method sober. Some intense painkillers and I imagine some kind of depressant would be necessary to dull your senses. I'm no drug expert though so consult someone who is.
5. You'd ideally want to drink plenty of water beforehand and also soak in warm water to basically I think bring the artery closer to the surface? Not exactly sure as to the medical reasoning but this is something that pretty much everyone says about this method so I'm just repeating what I've heard.

Again I highly, highly advise against this method but if you are dead set on doing it then make sure you succeed. Do tons of research and preparation, if you fail nerve damage is extremely likely. I hope you're able to find your peace <3.

4. That's my only concern right now. Wouldn't alcohol make me too tipsy enough to execute it well?

3. Even a nick will do the trick, as the pressure will open small perforations and spurt blood out at a very high velocity.

Definitely use a surgical scalpel. Im not sure how you can get one but they are easy to hold, very very sharp and literally made to cut skin. A double edged razor might be difficult to hold and perhaps not as sharp. A box cutter is possibly even less sharp. A double edge razor with a pair of gloves or somrthing else to hold it better would work more efficiently than a box cutter.

Though you should be advised that cutting your neck wont be as easy as SHing so try using stuff to help with the pain and be quick with your slices.

I really appreciate you having provided actual help than resorting to link me to the non-methods section. I'll certainly try as best as I can to get hold of such an instrument, as DE razors have that rectangular hole in the middle which could make the process quite painful.

Regarding the pain, if I do it right, I won't feel too much before the resulting low blood pressure in my brain blacks me out. Adrenaline is also another contributor. I'll also be stuffing my mouth with cloth so that I wouldn't be found out.

the non-methods section is helpful. as said by other users, cutting to ctb anywhere is not reliable for many reasons and usually does just end up in damage. sadly, not everyone is here to agree with your method of choice especially if it is deemed to be an unpopular method due to its unreliability. i would recommend to do more research into methods before resorting to methods that are overall knowingly unsafe.

Surgical scalpels are available for sale online in my region. A quick Gemini research on the carotid triangle's anatomy tells me that if I cut quickly and abruptly, I could nick the artery in a single slash. Once that happens, I won't be feeling any pain for long.

I could've agreed with you if I were cutting my femoral artery or even going for the carotid with a normal DE razor. But with an actual scalpel at a site where it is "more" exposed? I am also under a diet to make myself leaner (which I already am), which will surely help with the depth.

I've just watched a gore video of someone who did it... I can't seem to find the video again, but he seemed like he was indeed bleeding out.

(i) What tools to use: - ideally scalpel, or razor blade. Anything below that narrows the chance for success.

(ii) The optimal orientation to cut: - feel your pulse. That's where the vein / artery is going. Try to establish a route first by feeling your pulse as good as possible.

(iii) The way of incision: - a fast horizontal slice, or a slow but forceful deep cut? - No clue, sorry.

(iv) How to fight SI/reflexes (use a cloth to cover the mouth? or restrain myself completely?) - No clue. Alcohol?

(v) How to maximize lethality (stay upright on the seat? or lay down? or even turn on the shower to maximize blood loss?): - Media portrays this kind of suicide to be done in the bath tub. Hot water makes your body heat up = faster pulse = bleeding out faster. And hot water makes your blood clot less. One of the most imprtant factors to cause a failed attempt is a blot clot closing up the wound. On top of that, the loss of blood will make you feel cold which is counter-acted by hot water.

I have shavette blades and I've fantasized about this for a long time. But that moment of resolution is probably beyond me.

Why exactly; is it SI, or the unreliability of razors? If it's the latter, you're in the right. Trust me, DO NOT use razors for this. They're too flimsy, so once you hit the fascia, the blade will most certainly deflect/bend/break. Also, the cavity in the middle is another huge issue. Aren't surgical scalpels available for sale in your region?
