Can one be incapable of killing oneself?

I've tried hanging several times and always backed out. Now I'm hesitant to attempt it again. Can i not do it?

I'd bet on yeah, theres probably some people who aren't capable of suicide psychologically. Your survival instinct is the strongest one you have, I wouldn't be terribly suprised by the idea of there being people who just... can't overcome it. Not that this specifically applies to your case, but as a general concept it's definitely possible, probably more likely than not. Thousands of people actively consider suicide but never manage to die that way.

I think some people are incapable. Survival instinct in stronger in some that others. If worse came to worse for me, I'm not so sure I could go through with it.

I've been obsessed with suicide all day for six months and I haven't been able to do it. Never really decided to hang, though I tied the noose up and stood on the chair. Never bought a gun. Would probably just sit there with it in my mouth if I did.

I think it's the violence more than the death. Fear of survival with injury. Guns are especially scary in this regard. Imagine living with your face missing. Yeah, you should be able to aim properly, but nothing's 100% in this world.

I could do euthanasia, but that's academic. No one's going to give it to me.

Can someone be incapable of quitting smoking? Some people try with no success. It's always about how much you want to follow the plan and how much discomfort or loss of comfort you are ready to tolerate.

I hear about SI taking over and hope hope hope that isn't the case with me

There were two "near-attempts" I had earlier in my life, but they were both spontaneous and terribly thought out. SI was a bitch in that first one, but I am really hoping and feeling like my first actual attempt will go smoothly.

I like to believe if someone truly wanted to CTB, they would overcome their SI, but I am worried my thinking might be flawed...
