I was bullied as a kid. I never knew why. I assumed it was somebody else's karma that I had to face. My dad is the likely culprit. He says he was bullied. My mom's a narcissist. So here I am having no idea why I'm being picked on. I was mad. I have zero coping skills in dealing with people now. I avoid them. This stupid desire to be liked kicks in. I'd be completely comfortable being alone if it wasn't there. I can't have friends or be alone. Catch 22. Add depression and drug addiction.....Bullying really does a lot of damage. Makes you want to die.

I was pretty badly bullied as a young kid. Led to a lot of trust issues and general dislike of people.

This was at school though. Was your bullying at home or school?

It was both I realized when I was older. My family tried to hide it and look like the perfect family. Now I try to avoid them.

School was the obvious arena.

I understand trust issues and a general dislike of people too.

Well, there's one thing my father did to stop the bullying, though. And I've got to credit him for it. I can't act like it just didn't happen. So I used to come home crying from school. My mother actually found out what happened. My father came to school at that time and confronted them. And it was pretty serious. My dad was a military guy and these were small kids. They shook in their boots. You know, my dad wasn't a great guy and he was pretty violent, but I'll never forget that. And I am thankful for it.They never bothered me again. Ever.

I'm sorry that your parents aren't or weren't as supportive if that is the case.

My dad would always reply with,"Were the other kids getting bullied too?" I guess other kids get bullied, but the point was "I" got bullied. Your son got bullied. I just take it as he doesn't really like me. To this day whenever I say something personal, he says something like oh everyone has that it's common. He used to ask me how my day wen't and when I started to tell him he'd make it all about him and his childhood. He's a piece of shit.

My dad wasn't that great a guy at all. This particular instance, yes, he was kind of a hero.He actually physically manhandled and shook my bullies.

But you can also imagine what he used to do to me.My mother also had it pretty bad.

So,voila here I am lol.

That's great that he stood up for you.

My father was my biggest bully growing up, so I understand.

You'll always be liked and welcome here, OP.

I was also bullied which has led to trust issues and flashbacks, that's one of the reasons I'm here.
