How likely is it to die if I take a bottle of Benadryl? I'm kind of sensitive to it as is and it's the only accessible thing to me here really aside from my trazodone and mirtazipine, which I question downing in conjunction anyways. I went to an in-patient treatment facility in February and it had helped temporarily but I got thrown back into a horrible home environment and I've fallen deeper than before. I don't want to live here anymore and don't have the motivation to get out of here either. I'm alone and it's the end for me. I'll do it until I succeed.

A whole bottle of extra strength Benadryl? Doctors say that over 400 mg is starting to get into lethal territory and a bottle definitely has more than that. Thanks for making light of a method, feels really nice

Far more lethal than your "ammonia free cleaner" since you want to act like that

May I ask what that experience was like? If you're not comfortable sharing, I completely understand.

It was hallucinating something similar to what hell is like , having nonstop seizures and feeling like bugs are eating your brain .
It took me over a month before I could function properly and even now I have hallucinations and get paranoid.

I can't even imagine what that must have been like. I'm so sorry. Thank you so much for sharing 🫂

even if it *did* which is highly unlikely. It would quite literally be the most horrific and terrifying experience of your life. It would be extremely painful for what I would imagine to be 99.9999% pain with a 0.0001% chance of dying.
You're more likely to just go batshit insane.
Benadryl OD's are like a baby datura imo. Absolute shit that nobody recommends for anything at all. Leave the benny alone OP.

Please don't do this. I have overdosed on Benadryl and went to the ER. O: it is very unpleasant and scary.

Do not even think about overdosing on over-the-counter medications. If you can buy it without speaking to a doctor or pharmacist, it is pretty much idiot proof. You would be surprised the shit people do with medications for "genuine" reasons, so the pharmaceutical industry has made OTC drugs as safe as possible to avoid litigation.

If you were to try and OD most likely you would throw it up or if you managed to keep it down you would get blurry vision, psychosis, hallucinations, etc. To my knowledge there aren't many known long-term effects of a benadryl OD, so it's even safer than acetaminophen or ibuprofen which can cause organ damage. National Library of Medicine says one of the biggest issues is that patients may acquire pneumonia from being around other sick people. and that should tell you this drug is not dangerous.

Do. Not. Do. That.

It's incredibly painful. I had a friend who tried that. Took around 2000mg or some shit. The pain from that alone made him even more suicidal.

Trying to kill yourself with OTC meds never works. At best you get sick, at worst you do permanent organ damage. Benadryl is one of the worst things you can attempt those with.

Also think it through a little bit. If it was that easy to end your life with a bottle of Benadryl, we would have a lot fewer people on this forum.

Not recommended, painful, and terrifying. Most likely to fail, though a family member succeeded on their 2nd attempt with Benadryl. But there might have been some interaction with their daily meds that contributed to their success.

I have done this and I had hallucinations of invisible spiders crawling across the surface of the entire world. It was unpleasant to say the least

Bad idea! Over 95% failure rate & HUGE risk of organ damage.
I know a person who has to wear a colostomy bag (a bag of his shit!) the rest of his life due to diphenhydramine OD.
Don't do it! 🤗🌹💔
