Becoming unconscious and SN

I have a strange question. Ever since I started taking prescription medication, I've had a terrible time falling asleep. It's almost as if I didn't sleep at all yet I'm never tired. I just worry that if I take SN, I won't be able to become unconscious. Does anyone know if becoming unconscious has anything to do with the ability to fall asleep?

With SN you become unconscious due to lack of oxygen in the brain. It has nothing to do with your (in)ability to fall asleep

It sounds like a stupid question, but I read this article and I started to worry about it.

Additionally, Nance uses a prescription drug to treat chronic back pain. The lawsuit claims the drug has changed his brain chemistry to the point the drug pentobarbital may not adequately render him unconscious.

When people think of 'sleep' you have to remember that not all 'sleep' is the same. Even like in surgery, you are knocked out. Different reasons for why you're out. Saying 'sleep' is just the overly simplified version of it.

Pull up the main threads on what it does. Shy of a person somehow adapted to not need oxygen to live, they're going to be 'sleeping'

I'm definitely not saying I have fatal insomnia, but there's also this:

What happens if somebody with Fatal Familial Insomnia (complete inability to sleep) is given drugs for general anesthesia or is otherwise...

I'm no doctor so I could be 100 percent wrong, but sleeping and going unconscious are two very different things.
