Are people with ASPD likely to kill themselves? I've heard they think so highly of themselves, that it is not common for them to ctb; Narcissistic people even less so. On the other hand I've heard that there's a real risk of self harm with ASPD. I've heard also that when and if they do it, they do it with intent to die completely; no vasilation. Any thoughts welcomed.

NPD has a high suicide risk. Cluster B as a whole has a high suicide risk, however BPD and NPD are highest.

where did you heard that?
Just online research I've been doing. I wanted to open this thread to hash out what's true or false, to get a little dialog going.
Real very real NPD who was suspected of having co- morbid ASPD here, disorder demonizers please don't come and kill me..... Jokes aside. But I am here. I don't know if that says something even if I likely do not have ASPD.

Cluster B (personality disorder cluster ASPD is part of) suicide mortality rate is at about 20%. I do not know which Cluster B disorder specifically is ''responsible'' or leading that rate for sure. But that is there. I doubt it is ASPD though, BPD brings a way higher suicide mortality rate to the table. And NPD even less than ASPD. You're right on that.

I've heard from many other suicidal people with diagnosed ASPD that their main reason to want to ctb is the chronic feeling of boredom and void ASPD can bring sometimes, and not that they no longer receive something enough or think highly of themselves. But everyone is different, each suicidal person no matter the mental illness behind them is different. The reason to stay alive or not and who specifically commits for what reason is something that is hard to make into a statistic because of that.

Edit... my knowledge on NPD's rate is outdated, ignore what I said to that.
Is the boredom confused with depression do you think?

Thanks for the candor. I am particularly interested in the void or boredom you described. I think I have ASPD and I'm feeling that void and calling it depression. I don't think I'm that depressed.

What sergent wrote was my first thought on why and also i would guess that social isolation that might happend because of friends, family etc pushing someone with ASPD away because of their behavior might make them suicidal.
I hope someone with ASPD shares their thoughts on here and what made them suicidal.
Much love 🤗

Just like any other disorder has the potential to lead someone to suicide, so does aspd. Even if people with this disorder view themselves as highly compared to others and have a high ego. They still have a mental disorder which causes them immense suffering and for some people makes them no longer want to live. Both aspd and npd are heavily stigmatised and barely even viewed as disorders by society, their mostly just viewed as character flaws that make someone evil. So people fail to understand their suffering, and it's quite sad. They can most definitely suffer immensely and want to die as much as someone without their disorders.

Pretty sure I have aspd.

Ego is high but self esteem not so much.

I am pretty sure i am ASPD, not like a psychopath extreme low emotional intensity but low, i used to feel very suicidal sad a year ago, and i kept losing emotional intensity daily since then with bad headches and shit, i feel good relatively but still wish i was dead.. People with ASPD would commit suicide bc of chronic severe physical pain or i guess maybe lose of control over their lives. I want to kms rn bc i am ugly and the game is rigged on looks so it is annoying asf and have no control over it which is also boring bc who wants to play a rigged game that ik the outcome of, i am still pissed off over past suffering and shit. Sometimes i get very low emotional intensity like a psychopath so idc that much anymore so probably it will pass since i still lose emotional intensity daily. When i feel like a psychopath i don t consider suicide anymore bc to me living is the same as suicide, meaningless, it is hard to put into words but i just don t care bc dying doesn t solve or make me escape anything at all, my life is whatever, i don t see suicide as an escape then since it is same as living. So someone with ASPD would probably only commit suicide from being very physically ill in chronic pain daily but it will be quick and emotionless, like whatever, i have to do this.. Highly unlikely from boredom or life being pointless bc you are kinda like a dog, just live for sake of living and don t care..
