Heres a doozy….

I was the "only child" until I found out at the age of 17 years old that I was actually the "middle child" of three kids from my biological mother.

You know how they say the middle child tends to be the "forgotten child". Well out of three children, I was the "ONLY CHILD" to get put up for adoption, and I was also "forgotten" by my own adoptive mother…who is actually my biological mother's "auntie".

I had encounters with my siblings my whole life (except my youngest one- never met him) I just didn't know they were my siblings, I was told they were my "cousins".

gawd I hate my life.

I am the youngest in my family. I was definitely more protected, looked aftered by mum than any other child in my family. Maybe over-protected and guided too much in things and not learned to do things on my own despite my age as I haven't done basic things on my own such as washing myself or traveling on train or bus. There was a much larger age gap between me and the rest of my siblings so I didn't feel like they liked me cus they didn't want to play with me in the things I liked. I feel like as my parents had children we got worse and worse mentally as later children got increased levels of autism and more mental disorders and earlier children where more successful in terms of society would see them.

Middle child out of 4, not forgotten about at all though that might be because I'm the only girl. (Which was kind of nice growing up because it meant that while my brothers had to share amongst themselves, I got my own room, clothes, toys, etc. hehehe). I'm considered to be "the responsible one" of the family.

The youngest child, the one who has always been as excess of human presence, the one who is compared to those who in the past achieved goals before the financial crises. The child who did not have good enough instruction to survive the hostilities in modern society due to everyone's inexperience in this new territory.

im the oldest. my only sibling is my sister, which is just 9 years old. i am 20. i live with my mom and my sister. it definitely is hard to think of ctb when i think of them, especially my sister as she is so young. i don't really have anything bad to say of my mom, she tries her best to support me. my dad is another story, but i'm glad i don't live with him at least. my suffering is mostly related to my own dysphoria rather than any family thing, even though my dad continues to do shit to me and has traumatized me in the past.

i guess what is sad about being a trans girl and having a little sister is just that you see her having the feminine childhood that you always wanted to have, living femininity easily without anyone thinking it is "weird" or something, while you suffer so much for the same thing because of something you can't even control (your sex at birth). yeah it just sucks. plus as a trans girl living with two cis girls i definitely feel out of place. i don't feel like "we're all girls here in this home", i feel like an outsider.

Oldest, accident. Parents thought they should get married and have more two more after me. I feel guilty for not doing a better job as an older sister. There was no love in the house, I should've been a better sister to my little sisters when born into a dysfunctional family.

Oh no! I can't imagine what it's like to ride the train of child development alone with such a huge age gap between the other siblings. It must have been so lonely, I'm so sorry.

It was. By the time I was 8 or so, it was just me and my resentful parents in an otherwise empty house. Like being an only child all of a sudden, after having so many people around all the time.

And then my oldest sister had kids and started using us as babysitters every day, so I was left to care for infants alone since I was 10, while my mom chain-smoked and watched soap operas and Oprah the whole time. So then it was like suddenly being the oldest.

If I could have voted for two options, I would have picked "Youngest," "Oldest," and "Only child", but my situation isn't very common, so I understand.

Thank you for the sentiment.

This is absurdly relatable, not giving importance to development and being used as a family resource is an unreasonable abandonment.

Being promoted to babysitter for nephews, having one's studies neglected by (divorced) parents, lacking emotional support and used as a tool...

I went through all of this, I was forced to mature according to the successes and mistakes of older family members, who were supposed to be "responsible" but only desperately climbed on each other for survival. This past was what lead the life I have today.

We have more in common than I thought 🫢

That's crazy. It was nephews for me too! Well, had some nieces to watch years later, but I offered to help with them (different sister). Parents didn't divorce, but they should have. Never met two people who hated each other so much.

I'm sorry we had to share a similar Hell, my Miku friend.

I'm the oldest and was the only child that was abused in my family. Way too much responsibility at a very young age which included taking care of my younger siblings.

Oldest, the experiment child at that. My siblings born after me wouldn't understand. And I swear, which sibling someone was does reflect in most people for life. Even if it's just to extremely small percentages. No offense meant! I think child/sibling theory is very interesting......

I can generally tell when someone is the youngest after talking to them for a bit. The only children have a vibe to them too. The rest don't have a behaviour pattern.

Im the youngest. I have 2 sisters and I happen to be the lowest achiever in the family. Also the only religious one in the family or even in the entire family lineage (Kinda). My grandma was baptized in the Russian orthodox church (The same one Im in) but I dont remember seeing any icons in her house + Shes been gone for 11 years now. I was also told that one of my cousins in a lutheran, but from what Ive heard he parties almost every night and takes part in drugs so that might not be true anymore. Overall, Im "different" from the rest of my family.
