Someone here commented that suicidal people are forced to live so that the state can benefit from their labour. This makes me wonder how many suicidal people still function enough to earn money / pay tax. I assumed that most people here would be too unwell to work but who knows maybe most of you still work.

Personally I do work but only part time so I dont earn enough to pay tax and therefore am probably not much of a cow for the state to milk. If I died all my savings would go to someone else so not much of a financial incentive to keep me alive really I guess. I suppose in the future I might pay some tax on savings and the work I do does generate some tax revenue.

4o million? Wow.

I wonder if the amount contributing outweights the amount that arent.

Had a job last year for the first time in 10 years until my health went down hill fast and all my doctors told me to stop work :(.
I am not back on a benefit and can barely afford anything at all to live.

I have spent my life having what is casually called "high functioning depression" (really persistent depressive disorder). In other words, I can be very sad and still go to work/function/pass as normal. On one hand it is nice to be able to get out of bed and function. On the other hand, I hate my job and would rather be on disability.

i wish i could work actually, i loved my job before. but atm i'm too sick and in pain to do anything, so i live with my parents for convenience, but still have plenty of money to take care of myself with everything i need, except for the fact that i don't know what to spend the money on, since i cannot function to do anything anymore.
life eh! someone have bread but not teeth to chew it, and some other have teeth but no bread to eat, what a joke...

I had to resign from my last job after my family attacked and destabilized me again causing serious panic.

Then my dad passed away at old age and my family didn't ever want to reconcile.

It's been almost six months since and no one wants to hire me. I also have no desire to start over without any family or friends the future seems impossibly bleak and losing everything.

Dare I say, I'm very very likely working the last job I'll ever have. Ever. It's a new job I landed which is the last chance saloon to make a go of things within the area I studied. Self-sabotage inevitable.

I used to be functional enough for work, but eventually I was attempting every other morning before work and then they fired me for being unable to function at work.

A little. Nowhere near as much as I was making on my job... before I got sick and became disabled.

If I could earn a living I think I'd stick around longer.

I am 100% fit and healthy and able to work. But due to my criminal record I can't get a job. That's only a small part of why I want to CTB but I imagine if I were able to find a job I wouldn't have the time to plan out how to CTB or even think about it too much. It would just be a distraction from all of my other reasons tho and would probably only delay the inevitable.
