People, I've just discovered I have 29 1mg Xanax with a best-by date of 2009. Are those likely to do the job of smoothing out the rough spots in an SN or CO exit? Thanks for any insights

Usually with medications, the expiration date deems them ineffective. They're usually not as strong or no longer work at all.
Sometimes it has the opposite effect and becomes toxic, but I don't think that's the case with this. I think it'll be pretty ineffective for you, unfortunately. Especially after 10 years

I have old xanax and it works for me. Try it first as a test run.

Try them. I'd think they'd just become weaker after 11 years, not total garbage. If you're looking to be relaxed for the ctb, it should still do the trick. I know some folks find 20+ year old Vicodin or something that still is effective for pain relief. With certain meds, it doesn't make much difference.

For all of you who have been in suspense: I tried one, slept 10 hours, fed the cats, and as soon as I finish this post I'm sliding back into a doze. Daze. Whatever it's called.

Nice dozey. Nice dozey -.-

Cool. I kinda expected it. My first experience with xanax was also with expired pills and they did GREAT at knocking me out.

Three and a half hours later, I haven't gotten this much sleep in ages. Thank you Pfizer and the 2009 soul who tucked these away for safekeeping

It is pretty good for sleep. Back when I could still manage to get some, I'd knock out for a day and feel amazingly refreshed.

Anecdotally, they'll lose a bit of potency if anything. If it's a benzo, an opiate, etc, and expired? I'd gladly take it. Would probably calm you down quite a bit, even with the diminished potency.

Expired antibiotics, however? No thank you.

Indeed - expired antibiotics are a no go.
