A woman from my self-help group reached out for help. She has given herself a very weird name I think due to cultural misunderstandings she is from Asia. She sent me some official documents of her despite the fact I did not ask for it. I agreed to phonecall with her. It took one hour. She thinks she has bipolar but it is obvious she has borderline. She is in a lesbian relationship and is really unhappy. She asked me whether we can phone daily from now on. She asked me whether we can meet frequently in real life. I think she does not understand some social norms.

I wish I had such talks with the woman I am actually interested in. But she dodged texting with me sadly.

I'm tired of people perceiving unusual behavior as some type of disorder

She herself does that. She thinks she is mentally ill. And when I listed the symptoms of Borderline she fully agreed with it.

I get it. That's a part of the same problem
Personally, I think diagnoses are often helpful. For example for deciding which medication to take.

Maybe. But not assumptions nor self-diagnoses
I highly recommended to her to see a therapist/psychiatrist. And told her to take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I think you did good by saying what you said. Also I probably don't need to tell you but it is best to set boundaries first. Be open about it and don't feel forced into a dynamic you wouldn't be comfortable with or would feel overwhelming. I get you two don't even know eachother much and she is probably desperate for some support, glad she is searching for some and that you can be there sometimes, but yeah best set that straight and be direct about your boundaries.
