I have had dogs try to bar me from entrances to stores and generally been disrespected by people's pets. Anyone else notice this happening?

It's because you have a stiff pose most likely, CPTSD for example never let's you be truly relaxed, as much as you'd think otherwise. Most animals can feel this and are afraid you're gonna attack them/their owners

animals like dogs are extremely good at reading subtle body language; they're better at it than humans since they can't rely on spoken language. If something is slightly different, they'll notice.

Well it's not a guarantee, there are animals that like me and some that don't, the ones that like me, didn't originally like me because I was unapproachable in a way.

I feel like people often forget about how scent affects animals.

I have had cats look at me odd because they smelled other cats on me.
I have had dogs get excited when they smelled food on me from earlier that day.

I have seen dogs get scared of people because they wore cologne similar to what an animal abuser wore.

I have seen animals on the street avoid certain people because of places they frequent (like hospitals or vet clinics, they can smell the chemicals and cleaners).

Unless you are pushing an animal's boundaries and ignoring their body language until it becomes obvious, chances are that they smell (or see!) something on you that is causing the reaction.

Dogs hate me, cats are generally chill with me. Idk why dogs hate me, but I have a lot of interaction with cats so it's understandable they are less afraid of me.

I think I might have a similar trauma disorder to what you describe but for most of my life I didn't think I had a stiff pose.

I think the dogs noticed I was different and accurately judged me to be an inferior outcast. Their owners had trained them, consciously or not, to treat losers as repulsive criminals based on visual and other cues. These dogs in particular revealed to me just how I am seen by these types of dog owners.

At first I thought so. I would pet the dog telling myself it was being friendly to me. But over time and repeated occurrences I realized that was not what was going on. In one occurrence I also saw the look on the owner's face and read more or less what their embarrassed look was attempting to conceal.

For example, posture, the way you walk or your facial expressions when you look at or interact with other humans. Perhaps your vocal tones reveal that you are a cowed weakling and maybe being a depressed or anxious person makes you smell a certain way.

That's awful if they've trained their dogs to be awful to people, where they disappointed in the dogs not being agresive with you? these people are animal abusers.

hmm, well yes if you are agressive towards a human the dog can get agresive, but that's only while being agresive, many women have big dogs for the reason of protection alone, it might not be the case in what you describe.

Vocal tones don't really reveal anything, you don't smell a certain way if depressed/anxious unless you are in deep depression and don't take showers which I had happen to myself.

I realized that they trained their dogs to form a barrier and try to push certain undesirables (me, for instance) away from a shop or stand and they were embarrassed when they saw it happening - embarrassed for me I think. And I'm sure it extends in other areas like making certain people feel unwelcome in a group or being more aggressive by default with certain loser types. I do think vocal tones could reveal things but maybe I'm not using the right word. Tone is communicative for humans so it might also be for dogs and cats. I never felt particularly snubbed by cats but that's only because cats often snub people in general. There are some people who can pick certain cats up and hold them for extended periods of time but I was never able to.

Dogs usually hate me and get hostile on sight. Cats love me though. I think the body language thing is on point. Dogs scare me and I love cats, and my stance around each is different. I think dogs can become particularly anxious when they sense anxious stances in others. Most people like dogs and I think most dogs are used to being liked by humans, so when someone is "off" around them it seems particularly jarring.

But just because that's true it doesn't mean it's my responsibility to artificially force myself to feign "relaxing" around dogs just because I want to avoid potential confrontation. I really don't like how the onus is always on you. I am who I am and they are who they are, I want to be able to go where I want or need to go without tiptoeing around the sensibilities of creatures who are on a hair trigger whenever they sense a disturbance. I don't hate dogs as entities, if anything I feel a lot of detached sympathy for them, but I don't like being around them.

Cats love me. Certain dogs love me, too. It really depends on the breed of dog, though, and how the owner has trained it.

animals like dogs are extremely good at reading subtle body language; they're better at it than humans since they can't rely on spoken language.

Also don't forget that just like us, animals are flawed and biased, traumatized by life experiences, and absolutely do not judge others "fairly". Like we are with first impressions, subconsciously taking note of others' physical and other outwardly noticeable qualities first, animals do even more so, because they don't have the moral urge to "not judge the book by its cover", it's literally one of our ingrained instincts to do so as animals. Animals absolutely do discriminate based on first impressions, because that's what nature designed them to do. Thanks for reading my nature hate rant #1268 😤

But also many dogs will be aggressive to almost any stranger, but if you spend enough time with them they are just as likely to come to love almost anyone. It greatly depends on the breed, upbringing, training, and just their innate personality. A lot of cats are very avoidant and grumpy, while others are clingy and playful, and it's often not due to any external factors but just the temperament they were born with. Genetics. Nature hate rant #1269 😤😤
