Still job hunting, depressed and all that jazz. But I got paid $700 at once for some work that I did for a client a few weeks back. My credit card's still behind a few months. Still no job.

BUT, today I'm choosing to buy a drawing tablet. I found a FB Marketplace deal where instead of 500 retail, they're bringing it down to $160. I love drawing. I'm hoping to take it by the ocean, draw and relax.

While it's not a financially smart decision, if it works to keep me around, then it might be worth it.

Why do you not try getting a cheaper one from amazon or (if it is available) from mediamarkt.

I own a drawing tablet (not graphic)
it is a X-Pen Star G960S Plus.

Was for my graphic novel but I never could catch the energy and skill to do it so I used it randomly with Krita and Gimp. The pen for the tablet broke as I smashed it against a wall, but it was a great cheap tablet for 30 - 50 Euro or lower.

X-Pen company is known for cheaper tablets but they are often similar good as the high prized ones. Their pens often have no battery, that's why I choose them.

Because I need a tablet that's independent of a computer and has a display. As I'm sure you know, those get expensive.

But I'm starting to get into tattoo design with the hopes of taking an apprenticeship so I need it to be something I can carry around on its own. I am also going to be teaching an online course soon, so I'd need some sort of tablet to help with grading anyway.

Funnily enough it is an xp pen I'm getting -- the magic pad one.

Omigoodness, that sounds like an amazingly smart decision!! You can create art with depth... Maybe depths of despair, but depth nonetheless. Maybe it will take some time to create what you're truly proud of...

I think that that's beautiful!! I'm inspired to try something similar.

Edited to add that there's nothing wrong with art from the depths of despair!! It's powerful to know your not alone, and to connect with someone through art.
