I like the suicide prevention ad half way down yay, you've got widespread brain damage which will make your depression worse, but we're gonna force you to live with it.

I can well believe that depression causes physical changes in the brain. Abuse, trauma and neglect have similar effects.

I tend to think of these "well placed" ads as a way for the pharmaceutical companies whose "miraculous" antidepressants have done nothing to decrease the suicide rate to cash in on vulnerable people who believe their products will change their lives.

I can't tell which is worse, permanent brain damage from terminal depression, or the permanent damage from having so much drugs shove down your throat by psycologists.

Yes, depression is debilitating, and there should be the option of euthanasia. And yet, people who have not suffered from depression themselves say things like you are not trying hard enough, you are lazy and things like that. It may be invisible to other people, but depression is certainly real.

I love how this is saying that if you're depressed for years, you're basically fucked forever. Yet they still have the audacity to push for antidepressants and the shit known as cognitive behavioral therapy.

If you're not currently depressed, the best way to prevent these brain changes is to prevent the onset of a depressive episode.
There's considerable evidence linking psychological stress to the initiation of depressive episodes in many forms of depression.

Just stop being stressed. Jesus Christ. People get paid to say this shit.

Permanent brain damage from depression is usually benign and a
drawn out process. You can still counter it to an extent through exercise. But brain damage from psych meds are usually extreme and irreversible.

The article is from the 2018 and if you have stress it can cause that too. There are articles like in harvard saying it can be reversed.
