Life was a mistake

I've now spent one year on SS. It doesn't feel like it's been a year at all. It passed in the blink of an eye and once again I accomplished nothing of note. Though I have come to terms with the fact that my suicide is inevitable and will likely happen sooner than later. I feel my condition and everything around me deteriorating. Still, SS is one of the few things that exists that brings me comfort.

I joined SS one year ago because I was struggling while at college (thanks covid), feeling completely alone and after seeing the laughable messages parroted around on suicide prevention day, I could no longer take anymore and wanted to hang myself immediately and had found SS from the "how to hang yourself" thread a couple months before that when I was looking up suicide methods. Clearly that didn't happen, as SS provided me with what I needed at the time which was to know that I was not the only one who felt like a failure while everyone else around me was living successfully and happily. Far different from the people who would like to paint this place as a "death cult" that eggs people on.

I would like to thank everyone on here who has interacted with my posts or comments or chatted with me. I am very alone and isolated in real life and SS really helps me and a lot of people feel like they are not alone in their suffering, to talk about it frankly without any bullshit or the underlying assumption that we must try to get "better" no matter what. In some cases there is no getting better, and some people are simply too weary of the pain they have experienced to go on any longer. SS is far more valuable than any suicide prevention or mental health industry because it does one thing that no one else does, and that is actually listen to the people who are struggling or suffering, without them having to censor themselves, and without trying to guide them down any particular path. Free speech is being increasingly threatened by authorities who would like to think they know what's best for you more than you know what's best for yourself, but SS is different.

I hope that SS will be around for a long time for anyone who needs it.

I can relate to the feeling of a year passing by and accomplishing nothing, I am stuck in the same position. I agree with what you have said about this forum, as we need somewhere to openly talk about these topics without the toxic positivity seen on other websites. I wish you the best.

I've been on here since 2018, and I have left this site as the first tab on my phone browser ever since. Almost like a comfort blanket I carry with me wherever I go. I'm a big loner too and this site makes me feel like I have a community, it's right inside my pocket, just a few clicks away.

This site is the biggest reason I'm still here. The resources and knowledge from the community are just invaluable, so many terrible actions and consequences were avoided because of it.

I don't think it is too much of a stretch to say that this website has saved, or at least prolonged, more lives than all the people trying to shut it down combined.

I know for a fact that it saved me from making an amateurish attempt back in April. I was the closest I've ever been in my life to killing myself, but after I joined, it was as if a huge weight was lifted off my back.

True, those people trying to shut this place down have actually helped push some over the edge with their toxicity & manipulation.
